Project 31 began in early 2011 as an idea between two experienced community workers, Lorna Bamford and Elizabeth Dewar who were looking to develop a truly creative, responsive, productive and innovative organisation for children aged 0-12 years and their families in an area where there was a genuine need and a local will to instigate better lives and greater opportunities.
Now based on Hamilton Road in Rutherglen, Project 31 works throughout Rutherglen and Cambuslang but can often be found in wider South Lanarkshire. The project delivers a wide range of activities and events, all of which are free of charge to participants, providing truly accessible opportunities for children and families.
Established as a charity in March 2012 following a year long feasibility study, Project 31 has formed seven highly successful core strands – Early Escapades, Family Fun, Forest School, Pop Up Play, Play Peers - young volunteers, Parents Play Too and their Holiday Programmes. In addition to these, as a young and dynamic organisation Project 31 are always seeking out new and exciting adventures, responding to ideas, initiatives and needs and embracing a wide range of partnerships and opportunities.
